In 1992, Stewart joined Coutts Trust Company in the Isle of Man to market trusts in the Middle East. Stewart then moved to Citibank Private Bank in Geneva in 1995 as Head of Trust Marketing in MENA, and in 2007 moved to HSBC Private Bank in Geneva to head their MENA Private Wealth Solutions Team.

Richard is a Partner and Head of the Russell-Cooke LLP Private Client Group in London and advises clients in relation to their wills, probate and tax planning issues. Areas of expertise include cross-border estates and private international law. Richard graduated from Imperial College London, with a degree in Physics. He qualified as an English solicitor in 1979 and an English Notary Public in 1995. Richard has been a partner with Russell-Cooke LLP since 1982 and head of private client since 1993. He was awarded the STEP 2014 Geoffrey Shindler Award and is currently Chair of the STEP EU Committee and co-Chair of the STEP Public Policy Committee. Richard is a member of various professional bodies including ELI, BIICL, TIAETL and ACTAPS. He sits on the Law Society of England & Wales EU Committee.

He is co-author of Sweet & Maxwell's 'European Cross-Border Estate Planning’ and the international sections of Heywood & Massey and Jordan’s Court of Protection Practice. Richard is also co-author of a work on the EU Succession Regulation published by Sellier and Dalloz in English, French and German and a STEP badged text published by Oxford University Press on the International Protection of Adults and the 2000 Convention, Hague 35
